We connect with local landlords and realtors to bring your students selection and security. Landlords agree to comply with local, state, and federal laws, and all realtors are personally interviewed before they can advertise to your students. And what if you want to personally approve each listing before it goes up? Yea, we've got an add-on for that, too.
After researching more than 20 universities and their roommate matching process, we build the ultimate roommate finder. Students complete a comprehensive matching survey, and our algorithm matches them with highly compatibile roommates. We're so proud of it, we even published the findings in a white paper.
Every year, thousands of students go abroad. At JumpOffCampus,
we make it easy for them to post their available space with
pictures and as many details as they'd like.
We even help them cross-post their listings straight to facebook and twitter
so they can stop worrying and get back to school.
With our private classifieds section, they can even sell furniture and used stuff. And since only students at your school can get in, there's no need to worry about online scams.
Let's face it: most undergraduate students aren't experienced apartment-hunters.
That's why we place their eduaction first in this unfamiliar landscape.
Just check out the Learning Center for
helpful videos and checklists.
From a video guiding students through their first apartment inspection, to
a sample subleasing agreement, we help students through every step of the process.
We even integrate helpful information directly into the search. If one of our listings has a broker fee, a quick tooltip will explain exactly what that is, how it works, and how it should be weighed (we suggest amortizing the cost over 12 months).
Think we're missing something? We answer questions all the time on our active blog, so just submit a tip to our advice column, and we'll cover it in a blog post!
When your institution signs up with JumpOffCampus, we help you
stay updated and involved with your students' off-campus search.
Log into your administrative dashboard to track how everything is going,
check activity and apartment popularity, or add extra pins on the map
for libraries, gyms, and dining halls.
With so many options for customization, we're happy to build the best solution for your students.
Stories from our advocates.
Clark University has just over 2,000 undergraduate students. Before working with JumpOffCampus, their housing office spent a lot of time managing an online list of landlords and realtors, collecting payments in person, ensuring listings were up to date, and handling landlords and students in the office. Clark chose JumpOffCampus to help them automate this process and provide a unified online resource. Check out our interview with Kevin Forti from Clark University.
JumpOffCampus gives our students a smart way to compare and contrast various apartment costs, locations, configurations, and amenities.Kevin Forti, Director of Residence Life and Housing at Clark University
Brandeis University has around 3,500 undergraduate students. Before working with JumpOffCampus, they didn't offer an off-campus housing solution to their students, instead redirecting them to other local resources. For Brandeis, JumpOffCampus was able to offer an easy, safe, and centralized solution for their students to find apartments, sublets and roommates. Read our interview with Greg Jones, Assistant Director for Operations and Off-Campus Housing.
JumpOffcampus has been really helpful because the interactive map makes it easy to use for students and landlords. It’s really changed the ways that students look for housing.Greg Jones, Assistant Director for Operations and Off-Campus Housing at Brandeis
St. John’s University in Queens, New York has an undergraduate population of over 15,000 students, 70% of which live off-campus. Prior to choosing JumpOffCampus, St. John’s did not offer an off-campus solution for their students. For St. John’s, JumpOffCampus was able to provide their students with an easy way to find off-campus housing, roommates, and sublets. JumpOffCampus is proud to offer an off-campus housing solution to St. John’s University!
The University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut has over 2,500 undergraduate students. Before the University began working with JumpOffCampus, they offered a basic site where students could search for off-campus housing. They had also developed very strong relationships with nearby landlords. JumpOffCampus was not only able to offer the university and its students a more robust site with features like a roommate finder and sublet postings, but was also able to provide discounted services to their loyal landlords.
Most students have the impression that off-campus living is cheaper than life in the residence halls.
We checked out 27 different schools to see who’s charging what, and what their students are getting (or
losing) by moving off campus.

Many universities use roommate-matching surveys as a way to establish roommate pairs.
We examined this process by investigating what criteria universities use to match
roommates, then compared this to what students identified as their ideal roommate.

This paper seeks to discover both the university and student perspectives of on-
and off-campus housing. We surveyed university housing administrators and students
from across the country, and found three overarching themes. In this paper, we discuss
our findings on the three: social atmosphere, housing itself, and overall experience.
We hope to help universities and students understand their counterparts' perspectives.
